COLOMBIAN  TEXTURES

The Colombian textures project was created in 2020 by the initiative of teachers Guillermo Alberto Marín Rodríguez, principal clarinetist of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and Miyer Garvin Goenaga, piano professor at the National University of Colombia Conservatory. The main activity of the project is research – creation, focusing its mission on the recovery, dissemination and generation of works for clarinet and piano written mainly by Colombian composers. An exhaustive search has been made of traditional and academic Colombian repertoire for this format, accompanied by the commission of new repertoire that articulates traditional rhythms with academic work. As a result of this research, the project is carrying out a whole dissemination strategy for this Colombian repertoire through publish and present these products through classes and concerts at universities and music festivals. Parallel to the research activity, Colombian Textures project delves into the study and interpretation of the universal and Latin American repertoire.

Colombian Textures project has been presented at the V Latin American Clarinetists Congress CLARIPERU 2022 (virtual modality), Festival CLAMARA 2022, organized by Javeriana University / Universidad EAFIT and at the XVII Alfredo de Saint Malo International Music Festival / Panama 2023, where he presented a recital composed entirely of works by Colombian composers, performing the world premiere of the “Sonatina Colombiana for clarinet and piano by Fredy Pinzón”, “Sonata No. 2 for clarinet and piano by Ludsen Martinus” and the work “Instrucciones para besar una Lágrima” composed by Jaime Jaramillo Arias.
